AGENCY projected its digital animations at the “Party of the Century” this New Year’s Eve, at the Third Eye Productions event space in Kansas City.
The animations were modeled using the logic of crowd dynamics, inspired by the flocking of birds in this video of 300,000 starlings. At times, our simulation of the swarming crowd takes on the characteristic of a swirling, starlit night sky. At other points, the dancing particles of light evoke windblown snowfall, intermingling groups of fireflies, or streaming explosions of confetti.
The video was projected on the back wall of the event space, creating a dynamic atmosphere for socializing and dancing. We were happy to see several partygoers drawn to the media wall, some even taking group photos in front of the screen. With the projection at one end of the space , and the DJ / dance floor at the other, the event was charged with energy all night.
