Urban Wetland activates an underutilized urban axis to promote ecological and artistic production.
The project proposes diverting the river through abandoned and under-used sites in the city, transfusing natural wetlands and parks that provide a buffer for increased volume during storm surges. The infrastructure for the system is progressively inhabited by a variety of public programs that create new networks and opportunity for local communities. As water levels and population increase, the infrastructure emerges from the urban ground plane, a live organism responsive to the natural flows.
